Manchester International Depot is an existing twin road servicing Depot built in the 1990’s to stable/maintain Eurostar trains to support a plan to run international Eurostar star services from Manchester. This service never materialised, and the depot has had various tenants who have used it for short-term rolling stock testing and commissioning activities. Northern Rail has identified several enhancements works to the Depot to be undertaken specifically to the maintenance shed in order to meet the changing needs of the rolling stock to be operated on site.

The following works are proposed to take place within Manchester International Depot:

  • Lighting – Internal shed lighting and external.

  • Fire Alarm – New system.

  • Controlled Emissions Toilets (CET)

  • Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) –.

  • Depot Protection

  • High Level access

  • Building Fabric – Accommodation - Offices/staff welfare facilities

  • Plant Room

  • External –security cabin will be refreshed.

  • Decommissioning

The remit of work consists of:

  • Producing documentation as required such as System Definitions, HAZID Briefs, Hazard Records and HAZID Reports

  • Arranging applications for the agreement of CSM-REA Significance categorisation in accordance with Network Rail standards and the CSM-REA Regulations.

  • Facilitating HAZID and HAZOP workshops and ensuring all reasonably foreseeable hazards are collated and recorded by the project team.
