Located in the area of Northwest Birmingham, Soho Depot is primarily used as a maintenance depot and operates 24 hours a day, all year round.

It currently maintains a fleet of class 323 EMU but in order to maintain the new 3 car 730 fleet, alterations are necessary. The project is split into 4 work packages in order to deliver the works, which include the following: upgrading lighting, improving the depot protection system, modifying internal stores and offices, providing new walkways and mobile sand and screen wash bowsers, and making mechanical/electrical improvements.

Railway Assurance have so far aided in the facilitation of two successful HAZID workshops for the project, which has influenced the design outcome.
